Meet the Dentists

Jed Lim
Originally from Singapore, Dr Jed Lim studied pharmaceutical sciences there before moving to Dunedin to complete his Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS).
Now settled here with his family, Jed leads Dental Care Dunedin with a patient-centred approach, drawing on his background to provide clear explanations and thorough care for all ages.
Outside work, he enjoys photography and hiking around Otago’s trails, helping bring a personal touch to every conversation in the chair.

Tony Ryder
Dr Tony Ryder graduated from Otago University with a Bachelor of Dental Surgery in 1978. He then worked for a year in Bundaberg, Australia, as Acting Head of Department at Bundaberg Base Hospital’s Dental Clinic, handling routine dentistry and fracture work after the senior dentist retired. This was followed by two years in general practice in London, then a return to Dunedin after twelve months travelling home.
The current practice originated in 1862 and was bought from Mr Alec Bagley in 1983. While modernising techniques and materials, Tony is proud to continue his predecessors’ attention to detail and pursuit of excellence.

Tessa Chirayath
Dr Tessa brings experience from both public and private settings in Wellington. This has given her a great experience in the breadth dentistry has to offer in both the hospital and
private practive environments.
She has also undertook research and completed the Royal Australasian College of Dental Surgeons (RACDS) Primary Examinations, fuelling her passion for continued learning.
She focuses on creating positive dental experiences, guiding patients collaboratively through treatment for successful outcomes and better oral health. Tessa enjoys all aspects of general dentistry, with special interest in minimally-invasive and restorative work. Outside the clinic, she loves pilates, baking, and hunting Dunedin’s best coffee spots!
